Senator Blunt: You Can't Protect The Country If You Refuse To Even Debate The Bill

Statement

Date: Feb. 3, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.) called on Senate Democrats to stop blocking legislation that will fully fund the U.S. Department of Homeland Security today.

"I understand [Democrats'] lack of interest in trying to defend the president saying 22 times that he couldn't do something and then do it," Blunt said during the Senate Republican Leadership Stakeout. "Democracy doesn't work if you don't debate. Let's debate the bill, fund the department, and look at what the House tried to do to rectify the damage the president did with the way he has moved forward with these issues."
