Location: Washington, DC

Today, a bipartisan majority of the U.S. House of Representatives voted to protect innocent life by approving H.R. 7, the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act of 2015. The bill passed the House in a bipartisan manner 242-179.

"I believe in the sanctity of life, and I believe Congress has a responsibility to give a voice to those who are voiceless," said Zinke. "I think we all agree that the health and safety of the mother and her child is a top priority. We must all work together in a bipartisan manner to help make terminations as rare as possible, while also supporting women who face difficult situations."

The bill reauthorizes long-standing federal laws including the Hyde Amendment, which ban taxpayer funded abortions. A Knights of Columbus/Marist poll conducted Jan. 7 through Jan. 13, 2015 found 68 percent of respondents oppose taxpayer funding of abortion, while only 28 percent support it.
