Today, Congressman Peter Roskam (IL-06) released the following statement after House passage of H.R. 3, the Keystone XL Pipeline Act, which approves construction of the Keystone XL pipeline:
"Today, the House acted once again to pass bipartisan legislation authorizing construction of the Keystone XL pipeline, which will reduce North American dependency on foreign oil and, according to President Obama's own State Department, create 42,000 American jobs. Nevertheless, after six years of obstruction by the Administration, the President announced this week that he will veto moving forward with this critical infrastructure project. Instead, he vaguely promises to continue evaluating its merits. We've waited long enough--2,303 days to be exact--and we shouldn't wait another day. Mr. President: it's time to listen to the American people and sign this commonsense, bipartisan proposal into law."
