Iowa Congressman David Young Sworn-In, Hits Ground Running on Day One

Press Release

Date: Jan. 6, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

Shortly after 2:00 PM Eastern today, Congressman David Young raised his right hand and took the oath of office to serve Iowans in the new 114th Congress. The Third District Congressman from Van Meter was joined in the U.S. House Chamber to witness the oath by his parents while other members of his family watched on televisions in his Washington office.

"I have taken the oath of office and my office has hit the ground running on behalf of the people of Iowa," said Young. "My office is open, ready to listen to Iowans, ready to help and ready to make the common sense choices that will bring this country back."

Shortly after he took the oath of office, Young took important steps towards fulfilling top campaign promises to address Washington's out-of-control deficits and failed policies. In his first legislative actions as a member of the House Young became an original co-sponsor of a balanced budget constitutional amendment and legislation that begins dismantling President Obama's failed health care law by repealing the oppressive medical device tax established in Obamacare.

Young also reminded Iowans that he and his staff stand ready to serve them through his offices that will be located in Des Moines, Council Bluffs, Creston and Washington, DC.
