Rep. Rick Allen Votes to Block President Obama's Executive Amnesty

Statement

U.S. Congressman Rick Allen (R-Ga.-12) today voted in favor of the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act, H.R. 240. The legislation funds the Department of Homeland Security through the remainder of the current fiscal year and defunds President Obama's executive overreach on immigration in its entirety. The bill passed the House by a vote of 236-191 and will now go to the Senate. Congressman Allen released the following statement:

"The President's executive overreach violates our Constitution's separation of powers and disregards the will of the American people who strongly oppose his efforts to act unilaterally on immigration," said Congressman Allen. "A long-term solution to fix our immigration system will only be achieved if the President works with -- not around -- Congress on meaningful reforms. This bill sends a clear message that the President's continued efforts to ignore our nation's laws will not be tolerated. Importantly, it also takes necessary steps to strengthen border security, bolster immigration and law enforcement, and enhance oversight and transparency within the Department of Homeland Security. The legislation passed today helps protect America's security in a fiscally responsible manner and prevents the President from bypassing Congress, the American people and our Constitution."
