Statement

Date: Jan. 14, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Ranking Member of the Environment and Public Works Committee, issued the following statement after the White House announced its plan to cut dangerous methane pollution by 40-45 percent by 2025 from 2012 levels.
Senator Boxer said: "The President's plan will require the oil and gas industry to reduce methane leaks, which is a potent source of climate pollution. Congress can support this effort by passing the bipartisan Murphy-Collins Super Pollutants Act, which identifies practical steps that will aid in reducing methane emissions. By cutting industrial methane pollution, we can protect our children and future generations from the worst impacts of climate change."
