(Washington, DC) -- U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Chairman of the Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee, and U.S. Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL) and Carlos Curbelo (R-FL) made the following statement in support of the Vigil for Liberty, which will occur today, Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 5:00pm at Tamiami Park, located at the intersection of Coral Way (24 Street) and 112 Avenue in Miami, in front of the Cuban Memorial. Statement by Ros-Lehtinen, Diaz-Balart, and Curbelo:
"Our community should unite in support of this rally for liberty in order to give voice to those on the island whose voices are repressed by the regime. Human rights and the ability to fully express oneself should be sacrosanct principles, not items discarded at the negotiation table. It is up to us to give voice to the Cuban people so that the world can hear their desires for human rights, release of all political prisoners, and free and multiparty elections."
