Rep. Napolitano's Statement on Unacceptable Budget

"In the final hours of the 113th Congress, the House Republican leadership has again taken us close to shutting down our government. Rather than working in a bipartisan manner on a clean resolution to fund critical federal services, H.R. 83 contains unacceptable provisions--reduces Pell Grant Program funding for low-income college students; cuts funding to operate agencies they do not like: the IRS and the EPA; and slashes housing voucher funds for low-income families--yet it weakens consumer protections while empowering Wall Street bankers and raises the limits for campaign contributions. This unacceptable budget does not reflect our American values, nor does it reflect the priorities of our San Gabriel Valley residents. We strongly urge our Republican colleagues to produce a fair budget and provide certainty to hardworking Americans."
