Boustany Lends Support to Mulvaney Amendment Defunding Executive Amnesty

Statement

Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D., (R-South Louisiana) issued the following statement after adding his name to the list of Members supporting an amendment to the CR/Omnibus filed by Congressman Mick Mulvaney (R-SC) that would prohibit funding for the President's Executive Order on immigration.

Boustany said: "The President's executive action on immigration is wrong. It will punish those who have waited in line to legally enter our country while rewarding those who have broken the law. It upsets the balance of powers designed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution and sets a bad precedent for future Presidents to act unilaterally without consulting Congress.

"The American people want Congress to take a stand against the President's Executive Order and tell him to enforce our existing immigration laws. I'm lending my support to the Mulvaney Amendment because it's the right thing to do for our country's future."
