Cassidy Denounces Obama's Plan to Issue Executive Amnesty

Press Release

Date: Nov. 13, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman Bill Cassidy (R-LA) denounced multiple reports that President Obama is set to issue an executive amnesty plan next week, suspending deportations for millions of illegal immigrants.

Dr. Cassidy offered the following statement:

"President Obama is again choosing to ignore the Constitution and bypass Congress to grant amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants. Rather than work with Congress to secure the borders, the President would prefer to expand the policies that led to the rush of illegal immigrants coming across our borders in the first place. Illegal immigration must not be tolerated. Pushing back on President Obama's unlawful policies has and will continue to be a priority."

Dr. Cassidy along with Senator David Vitter previously introduced a bill to stop the increasing number of unaccompanied alien children (UAC) from illegally entering the U.S. The legislation would expedite the deportation process, reform existing immigration laws and send a clear message that illegal immigration will not be tolerated.
