Statement

Date: Nov. 7, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

Nevada Senator Harry Reid made the following statement today on the October employment report. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the economy added 214,000 jobs in October, while the unemployment rate fell to 5.8 percent.

"Today's report shows that our economy continues to make steady progress but there is still much to be done.

"Over the next few weeks, Senate Democrats will work with Republicans to act on legislation that restores tax breaks to middle class families and small businesses, creates jobs and avoids another disastrous government shutdown. Americans have spoken clearly: they want us to work together. I look forward to working with Republicans to get things done for struggling middle class families in Nevada and throughout the country."
