Location: Harrisburg, PA

Continuing to advance his JOBS1stPA initiative, Governor Tom Corbett today announced that the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) awarded the Potter County Redevelopment Authority a $25,000 Keystone Communities grant to support downtown development through façade improvements.

"The funding announced today will allow the Potter County Redevelopment Authority to equip the Coudersport community with a plan of action," Gov. Corbett said. "These façade enhancements will accompany the streetscape improvements to help revitalize this local community."

The Keystone Communities program will provide funding for concept plans for façade and enhanced streetscape improvements to accompany PennDOT's scheduled repaving in the Main Street corridor of Coudersport, Potter County.

Paving is scheduled to begin in spring 2015. The Redevelopment Authority has been awarded planning funds to develop a design that will determine which streetscape amenities should be installed while the paving is done. The Borough also plans to implement a façade improvement program for the property owners in the affected area when the paving and streetscape improvements are completed.

"The funding provided through the Keystone Communities program and the Governor is the corner stone of our planning process vital to helping us plan for future economic development," said Joe Pagano, Director of the Potter County Redevelopment Authority. "We're very thankful for the state's support and look forward to providing a plan of action for our community."

The Keystone Communities program was created in 2011 to assist commonwealth communities in achieving redevelopment. The program supports physical improvements to both designated and other communities that are undertaking revitalization to restore deteriorated downtowns, residential neighborhoods and industrial/manufacturing sites.
