Congressman John Delaney visited Hagerstown Friday morning to hear from local leaders and residents.

"Some of the best ideas that we have come up with, in terms of making a difference in the communities that we represent, come from engagements like this where people come together and have an opportunity to talk and ask questions. And sometimes questions feed off of each other and it makes a really good constructive conversation," said Congressman Delaney.

The Gourmet Goat was packed with people Friday as Delaney talked about the new ideas for the Western Maryland agenda, which will focus on the needs of the area.

Congressman Delaney said he feels that the area is not recognized enough on the state level and he wants to help change that. Residents thanked him for pushing for state support during the aftermath of the flooding in Clear Spring. They also voiced their concern on issues of minimum wage and student loans.

Delaney also talked about the Open our Democracy Act to reform the U.S. House elections. He filed the bill this month.
