Boustany Statement on Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina

Statement

Date: Aug. 29, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D., (R-South Louisiana) issued the following statement on August 29, the ninth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina making landfall in Louisiana.

Boustany said: "Nine years ago, the state of Louisiana endured one of the worst natural disasters in modern American history, driving thousands of families from their homes and causing unprecedented damage to our coast. The people of Louisiana took this as an opportunity to showcase our grit and determination to the world. By working together, we emerged stronger and more united than before, setting the stage for the economic prosperity that has made our state a shining example to the rest of the country.

"I'm proud to have worked with Senators Landrieu and Vitter and the rest of our delegation to help rebuild our state. I'll continue to be on watch to do what is right for Louisiana and to protect our state and its interests."
