Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D., (R-South Louisiana) responded to the Obama Administration's admission that it released 1,275 Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) in Louisiana between January 1 and July 31 of this year.

In July, Congressman Boustany wrote a letter to Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson and Secretary of Health and Human Services Sylvia Mathews Burwell with his Louisiana colleagues demanding answers on the crisis' impact on Louisiana. Additionally, Congressman Boustany and his colleagues requested that no UAC be released into the state of Louisiana without direct approval from the Governor.

Boustany said: "Today, we have a humanitarian crisis at the border because the President has refused to act. Now UAC are being released into our state without our direct approval. The House has acted to send additional border security assistance to the border and to expedite processing and deportation to alleviate this problem. The President and Harry Reid have yet to act. The people of Louisiana want the President to enforce the law and we will continue to demand that he do so."
