Sen. Pat Roberts and the outside special interests backing him are spending millions on attack ads the press has already labeled "misleading", "false" and "fiction" in a "desperate" attempt to distract Kansans from Sen. Roberts' role in why Washington is broken.
"People here in Kansas know that Washington is broken and that Sen. Roberts and his big-money outside special interest allies are to blame," said Orman for Senate campaign manager Jim Jonas. "They will spend whatever it takes to tear down Greg Orman and buy this election because they know that as a successful businessman and problem solver, Greg will not answer to them -- he'll only answer to the people of Kansas."
In his new ad, Orman said he is counting on "the intelligence and the independent spirit of the people of Kansas" to see through the smears and mudslinging.
In addition to the millions of dollars of misleading negative attacks ads the big money special interests are pouring into Kansans' television screens, they're also giving money directly to Roberts to help him finance his campaign. Just last week in an article titled "Lobbyists Try to Save Roberts", The Hill -- a Washington DC daily newspaper -- reported that Senator Roberts was raising over $100,000 a day from lobbyists by "calling in chits" from all of the lobbyists he's done favors for in the past. The report raised serious questions about what Roberts had done to earn all of those "chits." All told, Roberts has taken over $8 million from special interest PACs in Washington, DC -- all while reportedly failing to show up at 65% of Agriculture committee hearings.

Orman: "Washington's broken. I tried both parties, and like many Kansans, I've been disappointed with both. Pat Roberts is counting on negative ads and false attacks to stay in office. I'm counting on something much more powerful the intelligence and the independent spirit of the people of Kansas. I'm Greg Orman and I approve this message. Because while they attack and try to label me, our country's problems only get worse.
