Rahall: Funding Awarded for Veterans' Housing in Raleigh County

Press Release

Date: Oct. 1, 2014
Location: Beckley, WV

U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall (D-W.Va.) Wednesday announced Federal funding to increase access to affordable housing for veterans in southern West Virginia.

"It is absolutely wrong that any American veteran should be forced to sleep in the street because of a lack access to affordable housing. That is why I have been a consistent advocate for a Federal budget that not only provides for veterans' housing needs but also ensures our military heroes receive the full benefits and support services they have earned and deserve," said Rahall.

The Housing Authority of Raleigh County will receive a $24,700 grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) program. The funding will be used to provide rental assistance to homeless veterans and support services at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center in Beckley
