Location: Beckley, WV

U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall (D-W.Va.) Tuesday announced a nearly $70,000 Federal grant for the Ohio-West Virginia Youth Leadership Association (YLA) in Point Pleasant to expand a program of youth entrepreneurship education.

"Among our fondest hopes as West Virginians is that our children and our grandchildren will be able to plant their roots deep in West Virginia soil, build their careers here, and raise their own families in the place we all love. By instilling in our young people a sense of entrepreneurship and civic virtue, as the Ohio-West Virginia Youth Leadership Association works to do, we are helping them become successful contributors to their communities and future leaders of our State," said Rahall.

The federal funding was provided by the Appalachian Regional Commission and is being matched with nearly $23,000 from local sources, bringing the total amount awarded to the program to $92,500. The new funding will be used to expand a statewide network of certified educators and business and community leaders who will participate in entrepreneurship programs that include camps and summits at Camp Horseshoe in Parsons.
