Rahall Announces Funding for EDA University Center at Marshall and Concord

Press Release

U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall (D-W.Va.) Friday announced the release of $100,000 as part of the ongoing Economic Development Administration (EDA) University Center project at Marshall and Concord Universities. This initiative aims to spur regional entrepreneurship and generate jobs.

"Economic diversification and a trained workforce help to ensure we can take full advantage of burgeoning business development opportunities in our region. I continue to push hard for these types of federal investments that fire up the engines of opportunity and encourage innovation and entrepreneurship for small business growth," said Rahall.

This funding is part of a multi-year initiative that Rahall announced with the Administrator of the federal Economic Development Administration in 2011 to establish an EDA University Center in southern West Virginia. The Center provides technical assistance and applied research to help local communities capitalize on economic development opportunities, especially in the technology-based manufacturing sector of the economy.
