I recently sent a letter to the News & Observer that was published this past Sunday related to lack of re-authorization of important laws previously passed yet another way that legislation languishes or sunsets in Congress.
I read with interest wrote about the op-ed on the Export-Import Bank by Harvey Schmitt, President and CEO of the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce. Yes, there are some corporate welfare programs but the Export-Import Bank isn't want of them. What it is, is a cost-effective means of fostering innovation, the growth of small businesses, and job creation, all bi-partisan concepts and values. We should all be calling our Congressional Representatives with Harvey's message in front of us:
And while we're at it, we can also ask Congress for a bi-partisan reauthorization of the Older Americans Act which helps keep elders at home where they most want to be while lowering long term care Medicaid costs. Meals on Wheels is one the most used services supported by the Older Americans Act. The photo was taken at celebration ceremony for a new Meals on Wheels truck -- increasing delivery of meals that are lifelines for Seniors.
Stay tuned during the last 30 days and counting leading up to early voting for other important issue briefs and side-by-side comparisons of Cleary and Holding's policy priorities and positions
