During the 100 Days Campaign leading up to early voting, we have listened to stories and concerns of the people in District 13 and invited them to send them to our website for posting on line and via social media.
What follows is an unsolicited message that arrived in my inbox in the last few days from a small group of concerned citizens in the district. I saw that the message was both punchy and edgy but more importantly represents what we hear every day on the campaign trail. If you are one of those people who share these concerns, feel free to pass this message along.
I was also touched that the pledge statements to which I had absolutely 0 input perfectly represent my values and the ways I intend to keep constituents involved. I take the word "Representative" very seriously and as I believe the initial creators of our federal government intended it.
HOLD HOLDING ACCOUNTABLE
Two years ago, you sent a new man to Congress. His name is George Holding,
Now his yard signs are popping up here and there, looking for a second term.
But what else have you heard from him. Do you know how he has voted on issues before the Congress? More importantly, has he asked for your opinion?
We doubt it.
That's where Brenda Cleary is different. She's running against George Holding and she pledges to handle the office differently. Much differently.
First, her website will fully discuss pending legislation and ask for your opinions. (If you prefer, she will send you emails or letters.) She will also spell out her positions and offer you the chance for input. All told, we think Brenda Cleary has the right idea about representing you in Congress.
