Cicilline Statement on Resignation of Attorney General Eric Holder

Statement

Date: Sept. 25, 2014
Location: Pawtucket, RI

U.S. Congressman David N. Cicilline (D-RI), a member of the House Judiciary Committee, released the following statement after Attorney General Eric Holder announced his plans to retire:

"Attorney General Eric Holder has been a dedicated, effective and hard-working Attorney General and an inspiration to many men and women across our country. As the first African-American U.S. Attorney General and one of the longest serving, he has relentlessly worked to strengthen civil rights enforcement, advance marriage equality, protect voting rights and provide justice for all under the law. He challenged the nation to confront difficult issues, including racial inequality, economic justice, and disparities in our criminal justice system, and will be remembered as a fair and dedicated Attorney General. I am grateful for his service to the nation and I wish Attorney General Holder success as he prepares for his future endeavors."
