Congressman Rodney Davis continued his personal attacks on Judge Ann Callis today, releasing a misleading TV ad using debunked claims meant to distract voters from his record of putting himself and special interests first in Washington. The Davis ad is the next step in a continued pattern of nasty lies about Judge Ann Callis during this campaign.
The facts clearly show the allegations levied by Congressman Rodney Davis' campaign, notably that Judge Callis had signed documents that establish her as a Missouri resident, are completely baseless. Similarly, the Davis campaign recently had to retract a radio advertisement after being caught making inaccurate claims, and the Illinois Republican Party previously faced pressure after they were slow to retract disproven claims that Callis had plagiarized sections of her website.
Statement from Ann Callis:
"These continued personal attacks that lie about me are despicable and not true. While I have served as a judge for 18 years, working with facts and evidence, Davis has spent 20 years as a political insider, mastering the art of personal attacks and misleading smears. Congressman Davis does not have the facts on his side, which is why he's not actually trying to invalidate my son's high school football record in Troy, get the hundreds of cases I tried as a judge thrown out, or remove me from the ballot. I am running an honest and fact-based campaign to highlight how Congressman Davis is out of touch, defending a broken Washington and voting to hurt our families. His negative smears will not fool voters this November and this type of cynical campaigning is yet another reason why voters are sick of Washington and see Congressman Davis as part of the problem."
