Gibbs Sends Support for Ohio's C-130 Fleet

Statement

Date: Sept. 16, 2014
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Defense

Congressman Gibbs released the following statement regarding the letter he sent to Chairman Frelinghuysen about Ohio's C-130 fleet on September 16, 2014:

"Today, I sent a letter to Chairman Frelinghuysen regarding fiscal year 2015 defense spending priorities. Just like in every state, I take great pride in the excellent work the Ohio National Guard does every day to keep our nation safe. The Ohio Guard was one of the first states to deploy assistance to areas affected by Hurricane Katrina and also responded to the greater Toledo area where many were left without drinking water as a result of algal blooms this past summer.

"These men and woman would not be able to continue their excellent service without the proper technology and equipment. The Ohio National Guard uses the C-130 fleet in active and reserve military missions. These aircrafts need the necessary avionic modernizations to complete missions in the future. I would like to thank the Chairman for his leadership in protecting our nation and to also ask for the Committee to work with the National Guard Bureau to make needed improvements to the C-130H fleet."
