Obama-Walz Have Failed America's Veterans

Statement

Date: Sept. 5, 2014
Issues: Veterans

1st District Republican congressional candidate Jim Hagedorn posted the following statement on his campaign's Facebook page. The statement relates to news reports that incumbent DFL Congressman Tim Walz recently called for an investigation into allegations that patients of the Minneapolis VA facility may have falsified records documenting possible illegal behavior and denial of proper medical care of veterans.

Hagedorn's Facebook statement (www.facebook.com/hagedornforcongress):

More excuses and deflection from Tim Walz on Obama administration/Democrat failures that have hurt America's veterans. Notice how it's never Tim's fault.

Let's be honest. Walz has been on the job for 8 years. He serves on the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs and has worked hand in hand with President Obama and Democrat leaders on veterans issues.

Here is where veterans stand after 8 years of Tim Walz and 6 years of Barack Obama: Veterans are dying at the hands of the U.S. government. Veterans are routinely denied proper, timely medical care. Veterans are waiting a year or more to receive basic benefits.

It's time for new leaders and innovative ideas to take us beyond the same old bureaucratic status quo offered by Obama-Walz and the Washington, D.C. establishment of both political parties.

I support direct tax credits and other forms of private insurance reforms to enable America's veterans to receive the same quality and timely medical care as Tim Walz and his fellow Members of Congress and the federal government's civilian workers.
