Statement

Date: Sept. 11, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator Kay Hagan released the following statement on the 13th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks:

"Today we remember and honor the thousands of Americans who lost their lives in horrific attacks on September 11, 2001. The images of that day will forever be seared in our minds, as will the stories of bravery that emerged, reminding us that Americans are a people of strength and resilience. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who lost loved ones due to these tragic attacks, the first responders who selflessly sprung into action, and all the brave men and women around the world who are working to keep America safe."

"In the years since 9/11, America's servicemembers, many of whom are North Carolinians, have made immense sacrifices on behalf of our nation to fight terrorism around the world and protect our homeland. Their commitment and dedication reflects the very best of America and our values, and each of us owes them our unending gratitude."
