Congressman Stephen Fincher (R-Frog Jump) today announced he is accepting nominations for the 2014 Congressional Veteran Commendation (CVC), a program created to formally honor distinguished veterans across the 8th Congressional District of Tennessee for their wartime sacrifices and peacetime community involvement.

"America owes its prosperity, its security, and its liberty to the selfless sacrifice of its veterans who served our country with honor and distinction," said Congressman Fincher. "It's the responsibility of every American to ensure their patriotic service does not go unrecognized, which is why I've created the Congressional Veteran Commendation as an opportunity to honor veterans here in West Tennessee. Whether it's a family member, neighbor, a friend, or even yourself, I hope you will consider nominating a veteran so we may thank them for their selfless service to our country and community."

In order to be considered for this prestigious award, veterans must currently reside in the 8th Congressional District of Tennessee, have served the nation honorably during their military career, and have subsequently demonstrated dedication to their community.

Those individuals selected to receive the Congressional Veteran Commendation will be recognized and honored at the first annual "Salute Our Veterans" event in November.

Anyone interested in nominating a deserving veteran for the 8th District Congressional Veteran Commendation should visit Congressman Fincher's website at fincher.house.gov/CVC to download a nomination form. The application deadline is Friday, October 31, 2014.
