Energy Bill Passes the House
April 21, 2005

"This legislation creates a national energy policy for America that will reduce our dependence on foreign oil, improve our economy, and create jobs"

Washington , D.C. -Congressman Eric Cantor (VA-7) released the following statement today regarding passage of the Energy Policy Act of 2005:

"The comprehensive energy package that we passed today is a major step forward in our ability to provide certainty in the U.S. energy sector. This legislation creates a national energy policy for America that will reduce our dependence on foreign oil, improve our economy, and create jobs.

"This legislation improves our nation's electricity grid and makes it more reliable. It provides for safer, stable and more reliable energy sources within our own country, making us less reliant on oil from the Middle East .

"High gas prices put an undue burden on farms, businesses, and ultimately our families. We need relief from high gas prices and this legislation is the right step in that direction."
