Chambliss Statement on Anniversary of 9/11

Statement

Date: Sept. 11, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

Today, U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., vice chairman of the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, issued the following statement on the 13th anniversary of 9/11:

"Today we honor the lives of those we lost on September 11, 2001, and recall the bravery of our first responders and citizens who selflessly put themselves in harm's way for their fellow Americans. I also want to thank our military personnel, diplomats, and intelligence officials who have put their lives at risk to take on violent extremism. After meeting with NCTC Director Matt Olsen today, I remain concerned about the threat we face and encourage the Administration to renew our commitment to fighting terrorism wherever it may appear. We must remain vigilant and make sure that our national security professionals have the tools to protect our nation and our citizens from terrorists. Let us keep the victims, survivors, and loved ones of those lost in our prayers, and may we never forget the sacrifice of the brave men and women who have served and continue to defend the cause of freedom."
