The State of Vermont has millions of acres of forest land under its control. Some of this
should be leased on long term family leases to subsistence farmers to take the trees and make cabins, barns and fencing, and grow crops and raise cows, free range chickens and goats.

Vermont should start a subsistence farm program to give whole families a chance to stay in VT, young and old family members together, who might leave because they can't afford to farm otherwise; or stay together.

The landscape would then be a patchwork quilt of beautiful small farms, as it should be;
and as it was years ago.
