Issue Position: Lake Champlain

Issue Position

Location: Unknown

One-third of Vermonters, at least 200,000 people, are drawing their drinking water from Lake Champlain, an international body of water bordered by Vermont, New York
and Canada. Motorboats should be out-lawed on Lake Champlain because they drip oil and gas which contain lead, drop by drop, which harms their health.

Because 1/3 of Vermonters drink Lake Champlain water, we have to stop dumping treated sewage into it.

There are dozens and dozens of sewage treatment plants all along Lake Champlain in Vermont, New York and Canada.

The treated sewage should be piped overland and re-routed south into the Atlantic Ocean.

We must stop the plan for a natural gas pipeline to run underneath Lake Champlain
because many news reports in other states prove gas pipelines leak.

We can not allow Vermonters health to be poisoned by lack of attention to keeping our Vermont streams, lakes and pond and ground water pure.

It is a grand-fathered in fact of life that in the entire history of Vermont, Vermonters
have been drawing their drinking water from Lake Champlain, long before motor boats, sewage treatment plants, and natural gas pipelines were ever invented.

We must take back Vermont!
