Issue Position

I believe a strong system of public education is a cornerstone of our democracy. I have supported education as a lifelong pursuit. From access to quality, early education programs like Head Start to working with labor and business for mid-career job retraining programs, my commitment to federal support for education has been steadfast. I have voted for smaller class size and for school construction. I have worked to make College more affordable by fighting for the Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibility Act and the American Opportunity Tax Credit Act. Throughout my career, I've been honored to supported by public school teachers. Access to a quality education system is the first step in securing a family-sustaining job. Supporting these policies will remain a top priority during my service in Congress.
