Intelligrated Inc. to Expand Operations in Danville

Press Release

Date: Sept. 5, 2014
Location: Frankfort, KY

One of the fastest growing companies in the material handling industry is planning to expand in central Kentucky. Gov. Steve Beshear today announced Intelligrated Inc. will grow its operations in Danville, five years after it had initially revealed plans to move the operation to Ohio.

Intelligrated, a manufacturer of automated material handling and robotics systems, is expected to create up to 50 jobs and invest $1.6 million into the project. Hiring is expected to begin in the coming months.

"This is a great comeback story," said Gov. Beshear. "After nearly moving manufacturing out of Kentucky, Intelligrated is making a solid commitment to growing its success here in the Commonwealth. This partnership will lead to the creation of dozens of jobs and a significant investment in central Kentucky, two extremely good reasons to mark this as a time for celebration."

Intelligrated's Danville facility was slated for closure in 2009 as the company planned to consolidate its operations to Ohio. Due to an increase in product demand and the local specialized workforce, however, Intelligrated kept the plant open, and it's been growing ever since.

"We are grateful for our collaborative relationship with the Commonwealth and the support of the Kentucky Business Investment program," stated Chris Cole, chief executive officer of Intelligrated Inc. "We are excited and anxious to move ahead with this expansion and look forward to making Danville an even bigger part of our growth plans."

Founded in 2001, Intelligrated is an industry leader in developing and producing automated material handing solutions for companies around the world. Intelligrated employs more than 2,500 in 10 states and six countries. The company's Danville facility currently employs nearly 130 workers.

To encourage the investment and job growth in Boyle County, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) preliminarily approved the company for tax incentives up to $1 million through the Kentucky Business Investment program. The performance-based incentive allows a company to keep a portion of its investment over the term of the agreement through corporate income tax credits and wage assessments by meeting job and investment targets.

"I fully supported Intelligrated's request to KEDFA," said Sen. Chris Girdler, of Somerset. "This approval means Intelligrated can move ahead with its expansion, which means the creation of 50 new jobs for this area. That is a huge benefit not only for Danville, but for the entire Commonwealth."

"What a remarkable turnaround," said Rep. Mike Harmon, of Danville. "After almost leaving Danville in 2009, now with the help of economic incentives, Intelligrated will invest an additional $1.6 million in their local facility and is scheduled to create 50 new jobs. I am excited about the company's future in our community and wish them much success."

"There is no greater vote of confidence in a community and its workforce than when a company decides to reinvest in and expand an existing facility," said Danville Mayor Bernie Hunstad. "It carries even more importance when it's an existing plant that was once slated for closure. Thanks to Intelligrated for recognizing the experience and productivity of its Danville workforce with this opportunity for expansion and future growth."

"Intelligrated is heir to a long and respected line of conveyor systems manufacturers in Boyle County, employing generations of highly skilled, hard-working men and women from our community and region," said Boyle County Judge-Executive Harold McKinney. "I commend Intelligrated for choosing to reinvest in its Danville facility and its productive local workforce."
