The Toledo Police Command Officers' Association has announced its endorsement of Democratic gubernatorial nominee and Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald. FitzGerald has also been endorsed by Ohio's Fraternal Order of Police, the Ohio State Troopers Association, and Ohio's Association of Professional Fire Fighters.
"Members of our Association appreciate the strong law and order campaign you have waged," said Dan Schultz, President of Toledo Police Command Officers' Association in a letter of endorsement. "We share your desire for the State of Ohio to be a safe environment so that all of our families can enjoy a high standard of living. Our members recognize the tireless efforts that you have expended for our community."
"I'm honored to have the endorsement of the Toledo Police Command Officers," said FitzGerald. "Governor Kasich has repeatedly proved over the last three years that he learned nothing from his resounding defeat in SB 5. In every possible way, the Governor has continued to help the wealthy and well-connected at the expense of Ohio's police officers and their families. While that policy may buy him a lot of loyal campaign donors, it won't make Ohioans forget that the Governor attacked the rights of Ohio's first responders."
