FitzGerald Statement on Jobs Report

Press Release

Date: Aug. 21, 2014
Location: Columbus, OH

Ohio's unemployment rate increased this month due to the loss of 12,400 jobs -- including 3,900 jobs lost in manufacturing. An additional 6,000 Ohioans dropped out of the job search all together last month. June's job creation figures were also revised down by 4,100 jobs. Additionally, as of July, Ohio's labor participation rate is now lower than the national rate.

Democratic gubernatorial nominee Ed FitzGerald released the following statement.

"It's now clearer than ever why Governor Kasich wants to spend this race lobbing petty partisan attacks and avoiding reporters' questions about the kitchen table issues that affect Ohio's working families. When it comes to helping Ohio's middle class, Governor Kasich's record is as unimpressive as this month's job report."
