Mississippi Veterans Cannot Afford To Wait

Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman Bennie G. Thompson (MS-02) released the following statement regarding the proposed U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) bill:

"Congress must act immediately to honor the brave men and women who have served our country. No veteran should be forced to wait for health care or other benefits they have earned. While not perfect, this bill is a push in the right direction to reform the VA system and should be brought to the floor without delay. The 200,000 veterans living in Mississippi cannot afford to wait any longer," said Congressman Thompson.
This week, the House of Representatives and Senate are scheduled to vote on legislation that will repair our VA health system. Recently, the VA system was challenged by long patient wait times and attempts to falsify records to cover up service delays. The proposed legislation provides a much needed overhaul to the VA system and will improve the quality of our veteran's health program.
