Pitts Questions FERC Commissioners on Pipelines

Press Release

Date: July 29, 2014

Congressman Joe Pitts (PA-16) asked Federal Energy Regulatory Commission members about steps the agency is taking to protect the environment and landowners as more natural gas pipelines are being built. The commissioners appeared before a hearing of the Energy and Commerce Committee, Subcommittee on Energy and Power, on which Pitts serves.

"Today, the Energy and Commerce Committee had the FERC Commissioners before us for a hearing, the individuals who will be responsible for approving the proposed pipeline through Lancaster County," said Pitts. "I directly asked the commissioners about their procedures to protect our farmland and treasured open spaces during this process. The subcommittee I serve on has oversight over FERC, and I am going to make sure the agency has the right priorities."
