DeLauro Announces Support For Veterans Affairs Reform Bill

Statement

Date: July 30, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) released the following statement today announcing her support for the Veterans Access, Choice and Accountability Act. The bipartisan legislation is expected to pass the House of Representatives later this afternoon and the Senate later this week.

"The Veterans Access, Choice and Accountability Act is not a silver bullet to fix the Department of Veterans Affairs, but it will put America on a path to get there. I am particularly pleased the bill contains funding for a homeless veterans center in West Haven. Twenty-six more clinics will open their doors across the country, with more doctors, nurses and medical staff to treat our returning heroes. And it expands access to counseling, care and other necessary services to victims of military sexual trauma. We can never do enough to thank the brave men and women who put their lives on the line to protect our freedoms. We must do everything possible so that they have access to timely, quality health care; this bill is a good start."
