Perlmutter Statement On The Lawsuit Against President Obama

Statement

Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) issued the following statement after today's vote in the House of Representatives on the lawsuit against President Obama:

"Instead of focusing on important legislation to help the hard working people in the middle, the Republican leaders in the House choose to focus on costly litigation. The Republicans continue to pursue their own harmful political agenda rather than passing critical legislation to address the humanitarian crisis at the border or focus on a long-term Highway Trust Fund solution.

Just yesterday the Republican majority blocked the Wildfire Disaster Funding Act (S. 1875 and H.R. 3992) which would provide the U.S. Forest Service with access to emergency funding for wildfire suppression -- a critical need for the wellbeing of residents and the economy in Colorado. It seems the Republican do-nothing Congress remains opposed to moving forward on any issues that matter to the people of the 7th district. My constituents want us to be working on reducing the cost of college and making it easier to save for retirement. I'm disappointed and outraged in their latest antics. Lawsuits and stalemates will not move this country forward. It's time we come together for the good of our constituents and for our country's progress."
