Issue Position

Congressman Cartwright recognizes the connection between the production of American energy and the strength of the American economy. At the same time, he feels that energy production and environmental protection are not mutually exclusive.

Congressman Cartwright is fighting for an "all-of-the-above" approach to investing in American energy. He believes in utilizing domestic resources in an environmentally responsible manner, finding newer, better uses for older forms of energy production, and investing in sustainable clean energy technologies to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.

Pennsylvania's 17th Congressional District is blessed with abundant natural resources and wild areas. From the Delaware River, one of America's pristine waterways, to the Pocono Mountains, conservation of our abundant natural landscape is an important ecological and economic priority of Congressman Cartwright. To help preserve and protect our water resources, the Congressman will fight to repeal the "Halliburton loophole," the provision in the Clean Water Act that allows companies to hide the chemicals that they use for underground hydraulic fracturing, or "fracking" and work revitalize areas that have faced ecological disasters.
