U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) today issued the following statement regarding the groundbreaking ceremony for the Fort Hood Memorial:

"I applaud the hard work of the talented Troy Kelley and the supporters who have made the Fort Hood Memorial a reality. It is an important day for the families of the fallen and the larger Fort Hood community.

"It is also a somber reminder that Congress must do its part to bring justice to the fallen and their families by approving legislion awarding the Purple Heart to the victims of the Nov. 5, 2009, terrorist attack."
