Open Government

Teddy Roosevelt once said, "The government is us; we are the government, you and I," and I believe that wholeheartedly. Democracy only works when we have an educated population and every citizen has a right to receive a full explanation for the decisions our leaders make. As Senator, I will be an open book. Once you get to know me, you will find out that I don't mind telling you what I know. Transparency is important in changing our attitudes about government. Often, as citizens, we get frustrated because we don't understand why certain decisions are made, it is my belief that when we all recognize our role in government and the obligation of leadership to be accountable, we will no longer think the worse of it.
