The rising cost of health care is one of the greatest challenges Wisconsin is facing. It affects an employer's ability to hire, family incomes, and seniors on fixed incomes.

Health Savings Accounts are a great tool to provide families with costs savings and more control over the care they receive. Federal law provides tax incentives for such accounts, yet Governor Doyle has vetoed such incentives on the state level. To make health care more affordable, I will continue to push for this tax incentive.

I also supported legislation in the past which made health insurance premiums tax deductible here in Wisconsin. Unfortunately, that tax deduction was pushed back two years. I opposed delaying this tax deduction and support it going into effect immediately.

I support the renewal of the popular SeniorCare prescription drug program which serves roughly 100,000 elderly residents; helping them afford much needed prescription drugs.

Wisconsin will be facing many challenges with the new federal health care overhaul. We need politicians that will responsibly deal with these challenges. I have a proven record of fighting against actions that drive up health insurance costs. I will continue to fight against the government takeover of health care and unneeded government regulation that drive up its cost.
