Dear Supporters, Driven by the momentum of big win in the primary, we were out early with fundraising and other events. In late may, we received news that my husband Woodie referred to as a gut punch. His sister Sandy, with a whole lot of life ahead of her, died suddenly in her sleep of a massive heart attack. Woodie and I headed to to Texas to be with her husband, sons and other family members totally devastated by the loss. What kind of Congresswoman will I be if I didn't believe that family is a top priority?
On the heels of Sandy's death, we also lost 2 older "greatest generation" friends of over 40 years. While their deaths were not the shock that Sandy's was, we still encountered a lot of sadness based upon how we will miss them in our lives and too many losses in a brief period of time.
As of mid to late June, we once again cranked up the Cleary for Congress campaign again with canvassing efforts and several events including a garden party in Wilson, a picnic with Raleigh Dems north of 540, along with other speaking engagements and a volunteer engagement ice cream social. I will be posting some new pictures soon. And you will begin seeing enhancements to the Cleary for Congress website in the near future along with better interactive tools for users. Everyone that knows me understands that I remain totally committed to our path to victory, as I am anxious to assure that the good people of NC 13 are well-served in Congress.
