Issue Position: National Defense

Issue Position

Florida Congressional District 26 is home to a Naval Air Station and Naval base in Key West. Our men and women of the Navy provide for worldwide coverage at a moment's notice of any threat against American Interest. It is of the most importance to maintain a readiness at all times. The United States Coast Guard (USCG) is dedicated to patrolling this coastline. Florida's 27th district is home to the Coast Guard Sectors of Miami and Key West, which collectively border not just the Florida coast, but the territorial seas of Cuba and the Bahamas as well.

Today communism and socialism doctrines have been the exportation of the Cuban Government, during the Obama administration watch. We have witnessed the enlargement of anti-American rhetoric by the Cuban Government, Bolivia, Guyana, and oil rich Venezuela. In other parts of the world, North Korea, Iran, Syria pose significant an eminent danger to American interest. It is with a strong military presence that we are able to protect American interest in the region and the world.

The new Government of Venezuela is one that violates the most fundamental liberties and civil right of the Venezuela people, directed by the Castro brothers in Cuba. A government owned industries and Marxism form of government now called "Chavismo" negates every right and human decency of the Venezuela citizens. A country rich in oil, where there is a scarcity of foreign exchange, crime is increasingly reaching dangerous levels, military involvement in drug wars and alliances constitute a serious risk to American interest today produce a scarcity of food and services to the Venezuelan people. A president of Venezuela using threatening and fighting words to suppress the opposition places a clear and present danger to American Interest in the region, only short miles away from United States mainland and territories.

I support a strong and technological military power, consistent with the Constitution of the United States. Our military must be the best paid, money can afford, without cutting Homeland Security and protecting American interest abroad and with our allies.

The Obama administration failed to make the intelligent, cuts necessary to bring down the deficit. Their across the board cuts inflicted irrational cuts in drugs interdiction in the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean.

Spending cuts in National defense must be made with cautiousness, and intelligence. Across the board cuts is a reckless exercise in weakness. The Obama Administration across the board is irresponsible and will lead to weakening the nation. I support an intelligent way to spending cuts, those areas of administrative and logistic cuts that do not negate readiness must be look closely, and training and readiness should never be compromise.

Foreign Policy

Our foreign policy must be evidence of our noble traditions and believes. The Constitution grants the Executive Branch significant powers over foreign policy of the United States. Over the last years we have seen the degradation of foreign policy over social programs. We do not live in a world by ourselves; I will work closely with the Congress oversight to implement a clear firm and vertical policy against every tyrant government that oppresses American values and interest. We do not have dictate some-else's policy, but when that policy invades American interest and threaten the very liberty and civil rights of every human on earth it's an American problem, if we are going to control immigration and economic refugees on our shores and boarders.

As congressman I will bring to the attention of the Executive branch the need for clear unambiguous foreign policy, not founded in being weak, but a strong neighbor and ally. Every regime that weakens democracy and civil rights is our enemy, and the battle field must be drawn with said regimes. Having economic sanctions have not worked North Korea, Cuba, Iran. They did not work in Iraq either. China is becoming a monster in power and economy, with our own dollars and economy, buying oil directly from communist, socialist regime in Venezuela, enlarging a the threat to American values, business and economy.

Softening any form of relations with Cuba must not occur until such time as democratic elections are taken in Cuba, and the Castro regime has resigned from power in Cuba and Venezuela. Their Constitutional amendments of the 1960's and Venezuelan 1990's amendments are mockery of constitutional frauds and tyranny. The leader of the world, the United States, must have a clear and concise foreign policy to support change without softening any form or relations with said nations. Remaining silent, is not an option either, such policy of "wait and see" has proven weak and deficient. We must take affirmative steps to protect human rights and democracy. As the son of political refugee I will speak and advocate for those who are silenced by oppression and live in the grasp of tyrannies.

Foreign Economic Policy

Having a strong economic policy is essential to get out of the Obama deflation. American products are the best in the world. We must strive to export or goods and services without barriers and restrictions. Competing against slave labor is unconstitutional, when you considering that the United States has minimum wage laws and a Fair Labor Standards Act. Competition must continue to be the rule of the economy but it should be equal competition. The Tariff Act places levies on certain types of goods entering the United States. A strong foreign economic policy must review said tariffs to make for a level playing field.
