Issue Position

The recently-revealed widespread abuse at our VA medical centers is horrifying. As investigations continue, I stand 100% on the side of our veterans and will fight to get them the care they have earned and deserve.

We owe a great debt to the men and women who fought for our country in defense of freedom and democracy. We must ensure that our veterans receive the highest quality of care and services upon their return home. I have supported measures that will improve not only the quality of care, but also the accessibility to resources such as health care, education, and job assistance. This includes my vote to restore the military cost of living adjustment payments for military-age retirees.

In Jacksonville, I led the fight and secured the funding to establish a Veterans Cemetery in Northern Florida to give our communities' veterans the option of a final resting place close to their homes and families. I was proud to preside over the first Memorial Day ceremony at our new National Cemetery in May 2009 and am eager to continue to fight to provide our veterans with the benefits they deserve.
