Flores Statement on Hobby Lobby Case

Statement

Date: June 30, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Representative Bill Flores (R-Texas) issued the following statement regarding the United States Supreme Court's ruling in favor of Hobby Lobby's case challenging the Affordable Care Act's contraception mandate:

"I am pleased with the Supreme Court's ruling. This is a big win for religious liberty and the First Amendment rights for all Americans. The contraceptive mandate would have infringed on the liberties of thousands of religious and morally conscience employers. It is satisfying to see that deeply held religious convictions do not have to be compromised in the workplace. However, we still face the fact that Obamacare continues to fail in its primary goals of controlling costs and providing greater access to health care. Now, we must continue working to repeal and replace Obamacare with reforms that protect religious freedoms, increase access to health care, lower costs, strengthen the doctor-patient relationship and give American consumers a say in their health care."
