Boustany Stands Up for the Rule of Law

Statement

Date: June 25, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D., (R-South Louisiana) issued the following statement after House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) released a memo to House Republicans declaring his intent to bring legislation to the floor this July that would authorize the House of Representatives to file suit against the President of the United States to compel him to enforce the rule of law.

Boustany said: "This President is out of control. He has systematically refused to enforce laws passed through the Congress of the United States based on his own personal ideological beliefs. As the elected representatives of the American people, it is our responsibility to stand together in defense of the rule of law. Enough is enough. I stand firmly behind Speaker Boehner's decision to bring legislation to the floor that will allow the House of Representatives to stand up for the American people by pursuing this issue in federal court, and will work with my colleagues to ensure the American people are protected from this Administration's overreach."
