Congressman Pallone was first elected to Congress on a platform to put a stop to ocean dumping on the Jersey Shore and clean up New Jersey's toxic waste sites. He continues to fight vigorously to protect the water and air and clean up communities so New Jersey residents can lead healthy lives in the areas that they live and work.

Congressman Pallone believes that we need to keep our precious coastline pristine for all of New Jersey and our tourists who visit the Shore (and pump millions of dollars into our economy) to enjoy. That's why Congressman Pallone sponsored the No New Drilling Act, which will prevent drilling for oil off the coasts of the Unites States once and for all. Our natural resources our greatest legacy for future generations to enjoy and Congressman Pallone is committed to preventing them from being spoiled just for the purposes of increasing profits to Big Oil.

New Jersey's tourism industry posted $38 billion in economic activity in 2011, which is why it is so important that our waters stay safe and clean for us and our guests. Congressman Pallone's bill, the BEACH Act reauthorization, brings tough new water quality testing and public notification standards so beachgoers are informed about the health and quality of the water on our shores.

New Jersey has the most toxic industrial waste sites in the nation. Congressman Pallone introduced the Superfund Polluter Pays Act to ensure adequate funding to clean up the sites. The bill would shift the burden of paying for Superfund cleanups from taxpayers to the oil and gas companies that frequently create these sites.
