Governor Sebelius Signs Bill Encouraging Ethanol Use

Increased ethanol use helps the economy and environment

With rising oil prices again highlighting the need for alternative fuels, Governor Sebelius today signed Senate Bill 56, which encourages the use of gasoline containing ethanol.

"Ethanol burns cleaner and it is made right here in Kansas, so it helps both our environment and our economy. This bill is good for Kansas and it is good for the United States, because the increased use of ethanol helps us reduce our dependence on foreign oil," Governor Sebelius said.

SB 56 deletes the requirement that every retail pump for motor-vehicle fuels be labeled to show the content and percent of any ethyl alcohol or other alcohol additive, such as ethanol. It is commonly believed these labels discourage the use of gasoline containing ethanol.
